GENERAL
The Excel Building SupervisorExcel Life Safety Local Area Network
Interface (XBSXLS LAN Interface) allows any XBS workstation to display
and command Excel Life Safety 1000 (XLS1000) system points via a
dedicated industry standard Ethernet or Token Ring LAN.
The XBSXLS LAN Interface consists of multiple microprocessor-based,
real time function boards assembled within a chassis which mounts
inside an XLS1000 enclosure. The XBSXLS LAN Interface receives 24V
dc power directly from the XLS panel so no separate power supplies or
battery backup are necessary (required for UL864 listing). 100-240 Vac
power models are also available. A RS-232 port interfaces to the XLS
panel CPU and a Network Interface Card (NIC) provides a LAN
connection. A second RS-232 port interfaces to a PC to accomplish
configurations and upgrades.
The XBSXLS LAN Interface supports communications for up to 32
XLS200/1000 panels for up to 40,000 points. The XLS panels connect to
the XBSXLS LAN Interface via the XLS high speed peer network. Points
from an XLS panel can be used as initiators for event-initiated actions
within the XBS. These actions can command points in other XBS
subsystems, such as Excel Plus, Excel 500, and FS90 through the XBS
workstation. |
