Communications:
E-Bus: The Q7750A uses a transformer-coupled communications port with encoded data
presented to controllers and devices on the E-Bus at 78K bits per second. The E-Bus is
insensitive to polarity, eliminating installation errors due to miswiring. The maximum number of nodes per E-Bus is 60. With the addition of a
Q7751A Router, the maximum number of nodes increases to 120 or 60 per E-Bus segment.
The recommended wire for the E-Bus will level IV, 22 AWG
(Belden part number 9D220150) or plenum rated Level IV, 22 AWG (Belden part number
(H2201504) nonshielded, twisted pair, solid conductor wire. Honeywell E-Bus cable is
available. See Installation Instructions, form number 95-7509.
Additionally, Echelon approved shielded cable can be used.
Contact Echelon Corp. Technical Support for the recommended vendors of Echelon approved
cables.
1000-series:
The TPT E-Bus is a daisy chain topology the bus needs to go serially from one
controller to another without branching.
2000-series:
An FTT network can accomodate bus, star, loop or any combination of these topologies. This
simplifies system installation and makes it easy to add nodes should the network need to
be expanded. 2000-series devices can be used to replace 1000-series devices using a
TPT/FTT router. Maximum length of an FTT network is depedent on a number of factors, see
E-Bus Wiring Practices, form 74-2865 for details.
C-Bus
The C-Bus transmits data between EXCEL 5000®
System Controllers, Devices and Building Supervisors at 9600 baud or 1M baud (921.6k
baud).

The maximum C-Bus network length is 3900 ft (1200m), but
with the addition of an XD 509 Excel High Speed Repeater, the C-Bus can be extended (an
additional 3900 ft (1200m) for each XD509).
The maximum number of controllers or devices per C-Bus is
29.
Memory:
The operating system EPROMs contain 768k bytes of space. There are also 240K bytes of RAM
and 1K byte of EEPROM space available for software use.
Connections:
There are two connectors available on the Q7750A Excel 10 Zone Manager:
1. Connector 1; power, C-Bus and E-Bus network.
2. Connector 2; B-Port (RS-232) compatible with a PC for
the XI 581 Operator Interface and, via XI 584, E-Vision, CARE, and LiveCARE.
Hardware:
The CPU is based on an INTEL 80C188XL Microprocessor and also uses an Echelon® 3120
Neuron Chip.
Power Supply:
24 Vac with a valid range (of 19.4 to 28.8 Vac) at 50/60 Hz.
Power Consumption:
6 VA maximum at both 50 and 60 Hz.
Battery Back-up:
The back-up battery, used for RAM and the Real Time Clock, is a 3-volt Lithium (type CR
1/2 AA, VARTA number 6127 or equivalent). The backup time for a new battery is 30 days
with a minimum of 72 hours after the first battery empty (voltage falls below 2.5 volts)
alarm is detected.
Mounting Options:
The Q7750A can be mounted in a ring cabinet or attached to 1-3/8 by 9/32 (35 by 7.5 mm) EN
50 022 DIN rail.
