SPECIFICATIONS
KRETE TEXTURE BLOCK™ SECTION 4200
PART 1. GENERAL
1.01 DESCRIPTION
Provide KRETE TEXTURE BLOCK™ to moisture cured
zero-slump concrete products: concrete block, concrete pavers, concrete roof tile and
concrete segmental retaining wall units.
1.02 QUALITY INSURANCE
A. Unit surface texture shall be produced with the TEXTURE
BLOCK SYSTEM including: KRETE H.Q.(S), KRETE RELIEF™ and an optional breathable
sealer, KRETE HIGHLITER™ .
B. Job mock up 4' x 3'. Mock up representing the final work and material finish. Leave the
accepted mock up in place until work is completed.
C. Mortar shall contain Krete Brick & Block Mortar Mix to help control efflorescence
of mortar joints.
1.03 SUBMITTALS
A. SAMPLES: Submit samples or color and texture to the architect
prior to building the job mock up section.
B. TEST REPORTS: Submit certified test reports showing compliance of compressive strength
(with coating added, if desired) meeting standards set forth in ASTM designation C-90.
C.Unit concrete supplier must submit copy showing their acceptance on the TEXTURE
BLOCK™ approved list.
1.04 QUALITY ASSURANCE
A. Block shall be uniform in texture and coating (if required).
Coverage coating shall be light fast, breathable, weather resistant alkaline and chemical
resistant.
1.05 PRODUCT DELIVERY
A. Deliver to job site on pallets marked with material name and
product number.
PART 2. PRODUCTS
2.01 MATERIALS
A. Block shall be produced with KRETE TEXTURE BLOCK™
System as manufactured by KRETE INDUSTRIES, INC.
B. MORTAR: All mortar, if used, shall be type S BY PROPORTION including 8 fl. oz. of Krete
Brick & Block Mortar Mix per bag of Portland or per 2 bags of premixed mortar type S.
C. CLEANING: All mortar and stains shall be removed by dry brushing and/or by using
"PROSOCO" proprietary cleaner VANATROL, following manufacturer directions.
