12% Increase in Institutional Building Planning

The latest Momentum Index from Dodge, which is a key indicator for construction spending in the non-residential sector, reports an increase in building planning of 5.8% in September compared to August 2015.

The increase is being driven by a 12% rise in institutional building planning as state and local budgets recover from the effects of the recession, with such projects as the new five-story complex being added by the Cleveland Clinic to its hospital in Weston, Florida. The $230 million investment will almost double capacity at the hospital in response to an increasing patient load.

Earlier this year over 100 Howe Green Visedge floor access covers were installed at a new state of the art hospital in Bristol in the UK. The Southmead Hospital represented an investment of around $660 million.

Why were Howe Green floor access covers chosen?

In a busy hospital, with literally millions of visitors and patients every year, accessing underfloor drainage and services needs to have as little impact and disruption on the day to day operation of the hospital as possible.

The Visedge Series flexible floor access covers from Howe Green provide a cost effective, low maintenance solution that are easy to install, unobtrusive and able to sustain high levels of pedestrian traffic.

Security is an issue in any public environment. Visedge Series floor access covers are tamper-resistant and double sealed so can meet the highest standards of hygiene, again an essential requirement in any hospital.

Visedge was developed specifically for use with flexible sheet flooring systems, such as vinyl, linoleum, rubber and some types of carpets, and has been used extensively in high traffic areas in buildings around the world.

The Visedge Series is unique in that the sheet flooring can be locked into the cover and frame by hot welding to a pvc section sealed to the surface. This process ensures a permanent joint is produced and eliminates any water ingress and peeling - which could cause a health and safety hazard if it occurred.
