Top-selling High Security Revolving Door and Portal Conform with UL Standards

As part of an ongoing plan to certify products to North American standards, Boon Edam Inc. is announcing today that their top-selling high security door solutions, the Tourlock 180+90 security revolving door and the Circlelock security mantrap portal, have been tested and certified to conform with UL Standards 325 and 2593, and CSA 22.2#247 (Canada).

UL Standards 325 and 2593 are the prevailing industry standards in the US for ensuring the safe operation of doors, gates and access control equipment through the process of 3rd-party testing and verification. The equivalent of these standards in Canada is CSA22.2#247. While many of Boon Edam’s products currently conform to CE, a common standard in the European Union, the company is systematically investing in UL and CSA certifications for its security entrance products to remove the need for field certifications when UL/CSA is required by North American customers. This streamlines installation, saving the customer time and money.

“Today’s business climate places a premium on risk management and Boon Edam has always emphasized safety around the globe,” said Mark Borto, CEO of Boon Edam Inc. “In response to our customers’ needs in North America, we began investing in UL and CSA certification back in 2012 with our full height turnstiles and more recently for our Speedlane 300 optical turnstile. This investment will continue across all of our top-selling security entrance products. The goal is to assure our customers that they can confidently and quickly install a product because it has been rigorously tested by a 3rd-party to operate in a safe and predictable manner at any location.”

Tourlock 180+90 and the Circlelock are Boon Edam’s most popular high security entrance products due to their ability to prevent unauthorized entry without the need for manned supervision—providing roughly a one-year payback to the owners. The Tourlock 180+90 security revolving door prevents tailgating while providing a high two-way throughput, while the Circlelock mantrap portal is designed to prevent piggybacking into sensitive areas and also integrate with a biometric solution to verify the identity of the user.

The Tourlock and the Circlelock were certified to conform to UL and CSA by Intertek Group PLC, a multinational inspection, product testing and certification company headquartered in London, United Kingdom. The company is listed on the London Stock Exchange and is a constituent of the FTSE 100 Index.
