Traco has announced that it has manufactured more than 1,900 architectural windows as part of the $55 million semi-historic complete renovation of Eastern High School in Washington DC.

The Traco TR-9900 4-1/2” double hung side load windows and TR-9950 fixed units were provided for the school that will be a LEED® silver or possibly gold certified building. The window’s glass package included PPG Solarban® 60 and laminated glass for superior energy efficiency and increased sound control. Triple historical colonial muntins and PPG DURANAR® Colonial architectural paint were provided to maintain the historic integrity of the building, along with custom panning to match the original molding.

“This project had every requirement ––Historic, LEED® and STC, says Gina McHenry Williams, President of Clyde McHenry, Inc., a Traco Alliance Dealer who obtained and installed the project. “And a compressed time frame that required delivery and installation in approximately 3 months”, she added.

The steel building with a brick façade was constructed in 1932 and upgraded in the 1980s. The exterior of the building is being retained, while the interior of the building has been completely redesigned. The renovation project is expected to be completed by July of this year.
