Above is an image of a completed precast concrete tank using Penetron products from the Penetron Precast Concrete Tank Manual. It shows the following tank elements:

Each element including the concrete itself (along with each joint) is waterproofed with a combination of Penetron products. This concept maximizes efficiency and durability by combining the structural element and the waterproofing element into one. The structural concrete is turned into a durable permanent water barrier. This waterproofing approach is permanent and does not require the use of costly membranes, which eventually fail and need to be replaced. The end result is a permanently waterproof tank structure constructed from a superior concrete. This concrete is stronger, more durable and watertight to hydrostatic pressures. In addition this concrete protects the steel reinforcing from corrosion and has self-healing properties, which protect against future concrete micro cracking.
