System Specifications

Product Information:

The transfer of hot or chilled water through buried pipelines requires a special piping system. A preinsulated piping system that is not only flexible, but also has the ability to withstand harsh conditions.

Tricon Insulpex consists of RAUPEX® B pipe surrounded by a solid, not layered, jacket of polyurethane (CFC-free) foam insulation. RAUPEX B is crosslinked polyethylene (Engel Method PEXa) pipe. Rated for continuous operation at up to 203°F (95°C), RAUPEX B is suitable for most fluid heat transfer applications. RAUPEX B also features a coextruded oxygen diffusion barrier to prevent the corrosion of iron or steel components that oxygen can cause.

Surrounding the RAUPEX B pipe is a continuous, seamless layer of insulation that provides high resistance to heat loss. This outer layer of INSULPEX is a low-density polyethylene (LDPE) jacket that is highly resistant to abrasion, chemicals and UV light.

Tricon Insulpex has a long life expectancy at typical operating temperatures and pressures. It does not corrode and is resistant to aggressive soil and water.

Tricon Insulpex is five to six times lighter than copper or steel and comes in continuous coils of various lengths that eliminate the need for joints in the pipeline––features that greatly reduce the costs and time associated with installation.

Connections are made using REHAU’s proprietary EVERLOC® compression-sleeve fitting system.

EVERLOC fittings are worry-free, assemble quickly and easily, and provide excellent flow. They are also safe to bury underground.

Tricon Insulpex is ideal for applications that include heat transfer for:

  • Snow and Ice Melt Systems
  • District heating
  • Hydronic piping
  • Process piping
  • Marine piping

Tricon Insulpex (One Pipe)

A single RAUPEX B cross-linked polyethylene (PEXa) pipe with an EVAL oxygen diffusion barrier.

Available in pipe sizes from 25 to 90 mm OD (1" to 3 1/2" nominal).

DUO Tricon Insulpex (Two Pipe)

Two RAUPEX B cross-linked polyethylene (PEXa) pipes with an EVAL oxygen diffusion barrier. Pipes are insulated from each other.

DUO Tricon Insulpex combines supply and return pipes in one for faster installation in a smaller trench.

Available in pipe sizes from 25 to 50 mm OD (1" to 2" nominal).

EVERLOC Fitting System

EVERLOC fittings create connections so reliable they can be buried underground. These fittings allow for minimal reduction in flow because the RAUPEX B pipe is expanded at the joint.

Temperature-Pressure Ratings:

  • 120 psi @ 140°F continuous (826 kPa @ 60°C)
  • 90 psi @ 180°F continuous (620 kPa @ 82°C)
  • 80 psi @ 203°F continuous (550 kPa @ 95°C)

Accessories:

  • Heat shrink end caps
  • Rubber wall sealing rings
  • Connection chambers
