East Teak Fine Hardwoods, Inc., the industry leader in First European Quality teak and other fine hardwood products, was awarded the prestigious Obelisk award on October 20, at the Hotel Palomar in Dallas. East Teak was the midsize business recipient of the "New Initiative Award," one that is determined by a jury of their peers from the North Texas Business for Culture and the Arts (NTBCA), a nonprofit organization founded by local businesses committed to expanding support for arts and cultural organizations.
The Obelisk Award Gala, co-sponsored by Capital One Bank and Haynes and Boone, LLP, celebrates the extraordinary momentum of arts and culture in North Texas. Eight companies were honored this year for their outstanding dedication and support of the area.
East Teak participated in NTBCA's ArtWorks in March 2007, featuring the works of local woodwork sculpture artist, Flo Berry, supplying her with rare and exotic wood hardly ever seen in art. They have also been instrumental in the future expansion of the Dallas-based Water Tower Theatre.
"We are very delighted to have been given this prominent award," says chairman and CEO Don R. Daseke. "To have East Teak's dedication and support to the arts of North Texas recognized is an honor in itself. We truly value our relationships with the NTBCA and the Dallas community."
