Commercial Duty Service Doors Specifications

Part 1 - General

1.01 work Included

    Doors shall be Raynor Commercial Duty Rolling Steel Service Doors as manufactured by Raynor Garage Doors of Dixon, Illinois.

1.02 Furnish and Install

    All Rolling Steel Service door work including electrical operators, controls, and accessories as shown on the drawings and herein specified.

1.03 Related Work

    Opening preparation, structural metal work, access panels, finish or field painting, field electrical wiring, wire, conduit, fuses, and disconnect switches are in the scope of the work of other divisions or trades.

Part 2 - Product
Series LFP/LAP, LFF/LAF, LIF/LAI

2.01 Curtain

    Lateral movement of the slats to be contained by means of steel galvanized endlocks fastened to the ends of every other slat with zinc-plated steel rivet. Bottom of curtain shall be reinforced with an extruded T-shaped bar. Single contact type bottom astragal weatherstripping is standard.

    Steel Slats
    Shall be commercial quality hot-dipped galvanized (G-60 minimum) steel per ASTM A-924 and ASTM A-653. Painted with and epoxy primer and a finished gray polyester.

    Aluminum Slats
    Shall be 5005H34 etch and anodized on both sides to 201R1.

    Perforated Slats
    Shall be punched with a series of 1/16" (1.6MM) diameter holes across their entire length which will provide 31% open area per square foot of door.

2.02 Slats

      A. Series LFP (Steel Flat Perforated Slat) and LAP (Aluminum Flat Perforated Slat)

        1. The LFP curtain shall consist of steel interlocking flat slats not less than 22 gauge.

        2. The LAP curtain shall consist of aluminum interlocking flat slats not less than .04 (1MM)  thick.

      B. Series LFF (Steel Flat Slat) and LAF (Aluminum Flat Slat)

        1. The LFF curtain shall consist of steel interlocking flat slats not less than 24 gauge.

        2. The LAF curtain shall consist of aluminum interlocking flat slats not less than .04 (1MM) thick.

      C Series LIF (Steel Insulated Flat Slat) and LAI (Aluminum Insulated Flat Slat)

        1. The LIF curtain shall consist of steel interlocking flat slats not less than 24 gauge with 3/4" (19.1MM) thick, expanded polystyrene core included with the entire length of each slat. Interior surface shall be 24 gauge, prime painted, hot-dipped galvanized steel cover. The door shall be provided with a vinyl jamb seal and rubber hood baffle as standard. The curtain "U" value is .24 and "R" value is 4.1. (The specifications reflect calculated characteristics of core material). Independent tests results provided in accordance with ASTM C-236 are available upon request.

        2. The LAI curtain shall consist of aluminum interlocking flat slats not less than .04" (1MM) thick with 3/4" (19.1MM) thick, expanded polystyrene core included with the entire length of each slat. Interior surface shall be extruded aluminum .05" thick. The door shall be provided with a vinyl jamb seal and rubber hood baffle as standard. The curtain "U" value is .24 and "R" value is 4.1 (The specifications reflect calculated characteristics of core material).

2.03 Guides

    All guide assemblies shall be fabricated from a 16 gauge, galvanized channel fastened to a minimum 2 1/2" (63.5MM) x 2 1/2" (63.5MM) 11 gauge galvanized steel wall angle.

2.04 Brackets

    Mounting bracket plates shall be made from a minimum 10 gauge, galvanized steel plate and attached with 1/2" (12.7MM) diameter Class 5 case hardened bolts. The inside of the bracket shall be fitted with a sealed ball bearing.

2.05 Barrel

    The barrel shall be made from a minimum 4 1/2" (114.3MM) O.D. x .120 (3.1MM) wall structural steel pipe. Deflection of pipe under full load shall not exceed .03" (.8MM) per foot of span.

2.06 Counterbalance

    The curtain shall be counterbalanced by means of oil tempered, helical torsion springs, grease-packed and mounted on a single continuous steel torsion shaft. Springs shall be compression spring design to facilitate any counterbalance maintenance.

2.07 Hood (Optional)

    Hood shall be 24 gauge prime painted, hot-dipped galvanized steel with rolled edges.

2.08 Operation

    Manual operation to be provided with inside lift handle and locking bar, padlocks by others. Not recommended for doors over 10' (3048MM) wide and/or over 7'4" (2235MM) high. LIF series not to exceed 8' (2438MM) wide or 7'4" (2235MM) high. Chain hoist or motor operation recommended on all doors requiring heavier than standard gauge. Chain operation shall be by means of reduction gears and galvanized hand chain. (Motor operation available).

2.09 Finish

    All non-plated components of the door shall receive one coat of rust-inhibitive primer.

2.10 Warranty

    The Raynor Rolling Steel Commercial Duty Service Door and it's components shall be free from defects in material and workmanship for a period of one year from the date of delivery to the original purchaser.

Part 3 - Execution

3.01 Installation

    Raynor Rolling Steel Commercial Duty Service Doors shall be installed by an authorized Raynor Garage Door Distributor.
