
GENERAL
The Excel Building Supervisor�Excel Life Safety Local Area Network
Interface (XBS�XLS LAN Interface) allows any XBS workstation to display
and command Excel Life Safety 1000 (XLS1000) system points via a
dedicated industry standard Ethernet or Token Ring LAN.
The XBS�XLS LAN Interface consists of multiple microprocessor-based,
real time function boards assembled within a chassis which mounts
inside an XLS1000 enclosure. The XBS�XLS LAN Interface receives 24V
dc power directly from the XLS panel so no separate power supplies or
battery backup are necessary (required for UL864 listing). 100-240 Vac
power models are also available. A RS-232 port interfaces to the XLS
panel CPU and a Network Interface Card (NIC) provides a LAN
connection. A second RS-232 port interfaces to a PC to accomplish
configurations and upgrades.
The XBS�XLS LAN Interface supports communications for up to 32
XLS200/1000 panels for up to 40,000 points. The XLS panels connect to
the XBS�XLS LAN Interface via the XLS high speed peer network. Points
from an XLS panel can be used as initiators for event-initiated actions
within the XBS. These actions can command points in other XBS
subsystems, such as Excel Plus, Excel 500, and FS90 through the XBS
workstation. |
