components by welding, bolting, or screw fasteners.
PART 3 EXECUTION:
3.01 PRE-INSTALLATION CONFERENCE: Prior to start of installation of lightgauge metal framing systems, Contractor and sub-contractors shall meet at project site with installers of related work including door and window frames and mechanical and electrical work. Review areas of potential interference and conflicts, and coordinate layout and support provisions for interfacing
work.
3.02 RUNNER TRACK INSTALLATION: Install continuous runner tracks sized to match studs. Align tracks accurately to layout at base and tops of studs. Secure tracks with suitable fasteners for the type of construction involved spaced not more than (24") (20") (16") (12") (8") o.c., as required by design to resist lateral
forces. Provide fasteners at corners and ends of
tracks. ***************************************************************** See Runner Attachment Spacing Table, SA-923 for recommended spacing of fasteners.
*****************************************************************
3.03 STUD ERECTION - WIND LOAD ONLY: Studs shall be plumbed, aligned, and securely attached to flanges of both top and bottom runners by welding or screw fastening. Studs shall be one piece full length; splicing is not permitted. Jack studs or cripples shall be installed below window sills, above window and door heads, and elsewhere to furnish supports, and shall be securely attached to connecting members. Provisions for vertical

on the drawings. Lateral bracing shall be provided by use of gypsum board and gypsum sheathing and/or by horizontal straps or cold-rolled channels securely fastened to the
studs.
3.04 STUD ERECTION - AXIAL LOAD BEARING: Complete, uniform and level bearing support shall be provided for the bottom runner. Studs shall be plumbed, aligned, fully seated in the bottom runner, and securely attached to flanges of both top and bottom runners by welding or screw fastening. All studs should be aligned vertically from floor to floor. Framing of wall openings shall include headers and supporting studs as shown on drawings.Temporary bracing shall be provided until erection is completed. Resistance to bending and rotation about the minor axis shall be provided by gypsum board and gypsum sheathing and/or horizontal straps or cold-rolled cold- rolled channels securely fastened to the studs. Diagonally braced walls shall be provided at locations designated as "shear walls" for frame stability and lateral load resistance. Additional studs shall be positioned as indicated on drawings to resist the vertical load

permitted.
3.05 SUPPLEMENTARY PARTITION FRAMING: Install supplementary framing, blocking and bracing in metal framing system wherever partitions are indicated to support fixtures, equipment, services, casework, heavy trim and furnishings and similar work requiring attachment to the
partition. Frame wall openings with proper framing to accommodate the opening size and applied loads. Frame both sides of control
joints with separate studs
3.06 ERECTION - JOISTS: Uniform and level joist bearing shall be provided at foundation walls by means of shims and/or non-settling grout. Locate joists directly over bearing studs or provide a load distribution member at the top of the bearing wall.
