U.S.-designed and manufactured technology to be exported to global markets

STEVENSVILLE, Md, — With the July acquisition of Fleet America Service Technology, Stertil-Koni — the world’s leading provider of heavy-duty lifts — has added a new shallow-pit designed heavy-duty scissors lift to its product line and will now offer it on the international market.

The intelligent alternative to the old-fashioned piston lift, the patent-pending ECO Lift is an axle-engaging multi-scissors lift that emerges from a shallow pit, offering the utmost in convenience, flexibility and capacity.

“This is one of the most radically innovative lift designs to come along in decades,” said Stertil- Koni USA President Dr. Jean DellAmore. “It’s the perfect complement to our already comprehensive portfolio of heavy-duty lifting devices, and we expect to quickly start realizing sales from around the world.”

Designed and manufactured in the United States of America, the ECO Lift is machined with tolerances to one thousandth of one inch. The high-tech ECO Lift is ANSI/ALI ALCTV-2006 certified and will continue to be precision manufactured in Fleet America's facility in Manheim, Pa.

As an axle-engaging lift, the ECO Lift allows technicians to have easy access to wheel and brake assemblies and comes with a variety of adapters that will accommodate any axle configuration. The ECO Lift also features a safety locking mechanism to prevent unprompted lift descent.

One of the biggest advantages of the scissor-style ECO Lift is its collapsible design that makes it small enough to require only a 34-inch-deep pit instead of one that is six to nine feet deep like traditional axle-engaging piston-style lifts,” said Kurt Polins, inventor of the ECO Lift.

Traditional piston-style lifts require substantial pit depth and generally must be cast into the concrete floor during construction. The ECO Lift’s ultra-shallow pit requirements and bolt-in design allow for easy installation. The ECO Lift can also be removed and reinstalled with ease.

The ECO Lift is perfectly suited for high-water conditions as well as high bed rock. Polins said that “should a flood happen, the ECO Lift can be removed, cleaned and re-greased.” This makes the lift particularly well suited for customers that have sustained water damage.

The ECO Lift’s advanced engineering allows it to operate on only seven gallons of oil as opposed to traditional hydraulic, piston-style lifts, which use between 56 and 90 gallons. “This dramatic reduction in oil use diminishes environmental exposure in a big way,” Polins said, noting that oil has leaked into soil and groundwater through the deep pits associated with traditional piston-style lifts.

Because of these advantages, the ECO Lift can help companies earn LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification for their buildings. Polins said he’s working with the designers of a bus garage who are going after LEED certification as a green building. “As the most environmentally friendly lift on the market today, the ECO Lift is the right product at the right time,” he said.

In addition to being compact (25 inches tall, 40 inches wide and 22 inches front to back, when collapsed) the Earth-friendly ECO Lift is powerful, with 30,000 pounds of lifting capacity per unit. Multiple lift configurations accommodating 60,000 pounds and 90,000 pounds are also available. Control options include a remote pendant.

“Because the ECO Lift’s compact, powerful and environmentally-friendly design offers so many advantages, Stertil-Koni expects to see substantial interest as it introduces the ECO Lift at a host of domestic and international trade shows,” noted Jean DellAmore. Stertil-Koni currently distributes throughout the world including North America, Central America, Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Australia.
