Boon Edam Inc. Announces UL 325 and CSA Certification for Popular Optical Turnstile
Boon Edam Inc. announced today that one of their best selling barrier optical turnstiles, the Speedlane 300, has been tested and certified to conform with UL Standard 325 and CSA 22.2#247 (Canada).
UL Standard 325 is the prevalent industry standard for ensuring the safe operation of doors, gates and access control equipment in the United States. Its equivalent in Canada is CSA22.2#247. While all of Boon Edam’s products currently conform to CE (the European Union standard of safety and operation) and UL or CSA certification can be conducted on site as needed, the company is systematically investing in UL and CSA certification for all its security entrance products to align with North American standards and streamline installation for its customers.
“Today’s business climate places a premium on risk management and Boon Edam has always emphasized safety around the globe,” says Mark Borto, CEO of Boon Edam Inc. “We know field testing for UL or CSA is not always practical, so we began investing in product certifications back in 2012 with our full height turnstiles. We will continue to invest in certification over the coming years and several more products will be announced this year. By getting our products certified, we can assure our North American customers that a 3rd-party has rigorously tested our products and confirmed that they operate in a safe and predictable manner at any location.”
The Speedlane 300 was launched globally in November 2009 and has since been a top seller in the Americas due to its sleek, aesthetic styling, efficient operation and small footprint — all at a modest pricepoint. The most unique feature of this turnstile is the illuminated angel wing barriers that change color between red, green and neutral during operation, signaling the status of the lane to users.
The Speedlane 300 was certified to conform to UL and CSA by Intertek Group PLC, a multinational inspection, product testing and certification company headquartered in London, United Kingdom. The company is listed on the London Stock Exchange and is a constituent of the FTSE 100 Index.
