Kalamazoo, MI – Landscape Forms, a designer, manufacturer and marketer of award-winning commercial outdoor furniture and accessories, is pleased that its collaboration with Barcelona’s Santa and Cole brings yet another interesting design to enhance its product line of bicycle racks with clean and simple lines. Designed by architect and landscape architect Beth Gali of Barcelona, the Bicilinea is truly unique. This robust polished stainless steel bike rack combines urban utility and sweeping gesture. Its tubular vertical arms are mounted to a simple rectilinear support and then arc gracefully to the ground.

Bicilinea is shipped as a complete 10-foot unit that holds up to eight bikes or a 20-foot unit that holds up to l6. When installed it must be embedded.

Beth Gali is a member of the group of architects known as the “Generation of the 80s”. Gali promoted the creation of new public spaces such as the restoration and pedestrianization of the historical center of Barcelona and its opening-up to the sea. The new urban development and architectural paradigm which resulted from the Barcelona ’92 Olympics, to which she contributed actively together with other noted architects, ended up being exported as the Barcelona model. Gali now carries out her activity as an architect and lecturer at the School of Architecture of Barcelona and the Harvard School of Design.

Bicilinea joins the Landscape Forms collection of six bicycle racks, all with intriguing designs and already known to architects and designers: Bola, Flo, Key, Pi, Ride, and Ring.

Landscape Forms was recently named by the Wall Street Journal as one of the Top 15 Small Workplaces in the United States, and honored by the Michigan Business and Professional Association as one of the 101 Best and Brightest Companies in the state. Santa & Cole was founded in 1985 by Javier Nieto Santa and Gabriel Ordeig Cole to “edit” and bring to market exceptional designed objects and important books and monographs on design. In 1999 the company received Spain’s National Design Award. The jury cited Santa & Cole’s “business innovation based on the permanent collaboration with designers,”…emphasizing its “excellent urban furniture and publications.” Santa & Cole takes an “editing” rather than manufacturing approach to design because its primary interest is in acting as mediator to select and make available the best products, objects and writing across a broad range of design. The company edits and distributes lighting products, interior and exterior furniture, kitchen furniture and cookers, urban elements, plant elements (large trees) and books and monographs. www.santacole.com.
