While wood railings remain a popular option, more consumers are choosing aluminum railings – not only for their durability and minimal maintenance requirements but also for their ability to complement a variety of architectural styles and design preferences.

Since introducing its DesignRail® aluminum railing system in 1998 in response to customer requests for a complete railing solution, Feeney has continued to expand its DesignRail® offering to bring increased opportunities for personalization.

The most recent DesignRail® additions were launched at the International Builders’ Show in Las Vegas, and is available now! They include DesignRail® top rails in three realistic wood grain powder coat finishes along with the DesignRail® Express program, which enables customers with residential railing projects of 200 linear feet or less to order a custom DesignRail® system that ships within 5-7 business days. Also introduced were DesignRail® kits in a Textured Black finish.

Well-suited for both interior and exterior settings, the DesignRail® Wood Grain Top Rail offers the organic look of wood while meeting AAMA 2604 coating specifications for superior impact and weather resistance, and color retention. Three finishes are available in Cherry, Walnut, and Weathered Gray. The top rail can be mixed with any DesignRail® frame color, including standard or custom colors, and matched to the wood on a deck to create a truly seamless look.

The DesignRail® Express program combines Feeney’s CableRail stainless steel infill with a DesignRail® Top Rail and frame in a choice of powder coat finishes, including the new wood grain finishes (Rectangular and Graspable top rail styles only). The railings come in 36-inch and 42-inch heights, and in four top rail styles. Stair posts are pre-drilled for ease of installation.

Noted Brad Adsit, Feeney’s director of product development, “We are always looking for ways to expand our customers’ design options, and these latest introductions to our DesignRail® line continues our legacy of delivering railing solutions with exceptional aesthetics, performance, and versatility.”

As architects, builders and homeowners look for new ways to differentiate and personalize spaces, another area that has been steadily gaining traction is alternative infill solutions.

In 2019, Feeney introduced DesignRail® Panel Infill, a line of alternative infill options that includes several styles of stainless steel wire mesh and laser-cut aluminum panels for interior and exterior applications along with resin panels with various organic embedded materials such as rice grass and bamboo rings for interior use. The infills can be mixed-and-matched with other DesignRail® infill options for virtually limitless design flexibility.
