New Machining and Accessories on Bollards Improves Appearance and Usability

Reliance Foundry has upgraded the preparation of the model R-7593 bollard surfaces prior to powder coating, and added several accessories to expand the selection of this bollard series.

The R-7593 iron bollard stands 52” tall, with a 16 inch dia. base, as one of Reliance Foundry’s largest bollards. Reliance has improved the selection and finish of this bollard to make it a solid choice for customers across North America.

Reliance has made three major improvements:

New machining

Machining the bollard prior to powder-coating enables Reliance to enhance the cast detailing, making it more appealing as an architectural feature, while still providing stability as a heavy-duty bollard.

The model R-7593 architectural iron bollard is produced from two castings – a unique, ductile iron ball top casting with stainless steel threaded inserts, and a substantial, non-fluted ductile iron base casting. Castings have inherent surface flaws (parting lines, mold defects, grinding marks, feed indications, etc.) that are removed during the machining process, providing a consistent and highly attractive surface.

Machining the iron castings prior to powder coating also helps with powder-coating adhesion, providing a higher quality coating with the potential for longer field life. The consistent, machined surface provides an optimal surface for the powder coating to resist flaking or fading, and should require only basic cleaning and maintenance.

Accessory options

The R-7593 bollard can be accessorized with bike parking arms, producing the model R-7593-B bike bollard. Adding bike parking arms increases the functionality of this bollard - by enabling a property to provide secure bicycle parking at a minimal cost increase. With the dramatic increase in bicycling for hobby and transportation in North America, offering secure bike parking is a necessity for businesses that want to attract more customers.

The R-7593 bollard can be used as a decorative cover over top of a steel pipe bollard. It can be positioned over top of a security pipe bollard up to 8” dia. x 36” high, to provide design and aesthetics to what would normally be an unattractive yet necessary feature, while at the same time protect the security asset.

Expanded product line

In addition to bike arms, several tops or cap castings can be added to the R-7593 bollard, providing a wider range of uses and style preferences. The new machining, accessory and cap options are represented as unique bollard models within the R-7593-series bollard family.

The model R-7595, R-7536, R-7533 and R-7532 bollards are nearly identical in size to the model R-7593 bollard, however they offer different capped tops to accommodate different design preferences.

These substantial, heavy-duty bollards are a popular choice to provide prominent perimeter highlighting, and are key bollard cover choices for clients who need decorative enhancements to their utilitarian security bollards.

Overall, Reliance Foundry is very pleased with the response given by clients to the new machining and style options of this bollard design. Recently, the Gene Snyder Federal Courthouse in Lexington, KY installed R-7593 bollard covers to completely surround the perimeter of their property. Coupled with the significant security pipe bollards underneath, the R-7593 bollard covers offer protection against unwanted vehicles, keeping them from approaching the building.

Reliance offers clients different mounting options for these bollards, making the products even more versatile and user-friendly to install.
