Case Study: F1 Montreal Grand Prix Paddocks

The Canadian Grand Prix has been held in Montreal every year (except 2020) since 1961, and since 1978 has been run at Parc Jean Drapeau’s Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve.

The paddocks building, however, which houses team garages, spectator loges and terraces, media and administrative rooms, and a control tower, had required major upgrades for years. Aside from fitting only 1,800 spectators, several other missing elements meant it didn’t meet official F1 World Championship standards.

But that wasn’t the only challenge: Unicel Architectural and the rest of the implementation team also had to fast-track the upgrades under a tight construction timeline of 10 months, and during Montreal’s famously arduous winter season.

Learn how we helped upgrade these facilities to meet or exceed F1 World Championship standards in a bright, modern and private viewing area with a great view in a unique spot just minutes from downtown Montreal.

Winner of Canadian Architect magazine 2018 Award of Excellence.
