Provide pilots with a safe and accurate glide slope on final approach to the runway. Precision Approach Path Indicators (PAPIs) use a row of Light Housing Assemblies (LHAs) placed perpendicular to the runway approach path. Pilots can easily determine if their approach is too high, too low, or correctly on slope through combinations of red and white lights. The Carmanah PAPI/APAPI is available in three basic models with multiple configuration options to exceed ICAO, FAA, and STANAG requirements.

Features

  • Lightweight, compact, and self-contained design
  • Portable or fixed installation options; no specialized work crews required
  • Includes energy efficient solar power engine or A/C power
  • Option for visible/IR light
  • Option for RF control from air, tower, or ground
  • Suitable for permanent, temporary, and emergency airfields as well as military and NVG operations
  • Fully integrated with all Carmanah airfield lighting products

Models

APAPI
Carmanah Abbreviated PAPI's or APAPI's are cost-effective, low intensity, 15,000 cd glide slope indicators intended for smaller ICAO-compliant runways.

PAPI-2
The high-intensity 30,000 cd PAPI-2 is suitable for FAA-compliant runways. The PAPI-2 includes two Light Housing Assemblies and is available in portable and fixed designs.

PAPI-4
This full scale, four LHA PAPI provides 30,000 cd intensity for larger FAA or ICAO-compliant runways.

Military Grade PAPIs
All Carmanah PAPIs are available in military grade. Our M series PAPIs include all of the features of our standard PAPIs with the added benefits of infrared and visible lighting, and fully portable format. M series PAPIs come packaged with high-efficiency solar panels, cabling, battery packs, mounting accessories, and an air transportable container.
