PennBarry vcPlume-Lite: High-Plume Exhaust for Laboratories and Research Facilities

October 14, 2026

Laboratory exhaust systems must discharge unwanted or hazardous fumes while limiting their return through nearby ventilation intakes. PennBarry’s vcPlume-Lite high-plume centrifugal laboratory exhaust fan is a pre-engineered solution designed to address this challenge across academic, biomedical and pharmaceutical laboratories, hospital research spaces and manufacturing facilities.

Airflow control for demanding applications

The vcPlume-Lite offers airflow capacities up to 37,000 CFM and static pressures up to 12.5 inches water gauge. These figures describe the product range’s maximum capabilities; operating performance depends on the selected configuration.

Motor options include GreenPlus Electronically Commutated (EC) motors and premium-efficiency induction motors paired with variable frequency drives. These options provide adjustable airflow control to support application requirements and energy management.

Direct-drive models are available in sizes 060–330, while belt-drive models cover sizes 060–365. A discharge nozzle with five distinct blade positions provides flexibility across a broad operating range.

Construction and maintenance access

The fan incorporates a backward-inclined, non-overloading, dynamically balanced wheel within a continuously welded, coated mild-steel housing. A fully welded discharge stack assembly and an AirDry phenolic epoxy coating with a UV topcoat form part of the unit’s construction.

Large gasketed access doors with quick-release latches simplify inspection and provide access for maintenance. Type A, B or C construction options are available in accordance with AMCA 99 guidelines.

Certified performance and exhaust discharge design

The vcPlume-Lite carries the AMCA seal for air and sound performance and UL 705 certification for power ventilators. Its exhaust stack and nozzle are designed to meet the requirements of ANSI/AIHA Z9.5.

By combining high-plume discharge, configurable drive options and accessible construction, the vcPlume-Lite gives facility designers a laboratory exhaust option that addresses fume dispersion, airflow control and ongoing service needs.
